Boat sinking kills 16 in Albania
At least 16 people have died after a boat sank in a lake near the Albanian capital Tirana, police say.

They say the accident happened overnight on Lake Farka, about five kilometres (three miles) south-east of the city.

The boat was carrying 20 people. They were celebrating the birthday of five-year-old twins, according to the Associated Press news agency. Officials believe the vessel sank because it was overloaded.

Police spokeswoman Alma Katragjini said 16 bodies had been found in the lake. The twins were among the victims.

Many of the dead were members of two families celebrating the birthday, Mr Katragjini said.
